John Douglass currently serves as the director of the UC History Digital Archives (UCHDA), and is a co-PI on a new UC-wide undergraduate academic experience study (SERU21). He is pursuing a number of projects focused on California higher education policy issues and the role of higher education in economic development. He is also working toward a book on US science policy as a component of economic policy, and a comparative study of other OECD countries.
