AnnaLee Saxenian is an internationally recognized expert on regional economic development and information technology; and has published extensively on the social and economic organization of production in technology regions like Silicon Valley. Her current research explores how immigrant engineers and scientists are transferring technology entrepreneurship to regions in Asia. Her publications include Regional Advantage: Culture and Competition in Silicon Valley and Route 128 (Harvard University Press, 1994), Silicon Valley's New Immigrant Entrepreneurs (Public Policy Institute of California, 1999), and Local and Global Networks of Immigrant Professionals in Silicon Valley (Public Policy Institute of California, 2002).
