Aihwa Ong's new research project is on the biotechnology industry in Singapore where the life sciences as a major opportunity for economic growth and political prestige. She is particularly interested in the links between nationalism and biotechnology; the ethical representation of stem-cell research; the co-articulations race, ethnicity, and biological facts; and the construction of an Asian biological citizenship. She is organizing a conference (with Nancy Chen, UC Santa Cruz) on "Asian Biotechnology" that will be held in Australia next year.
